MetroTreeTM

MetroTreeTM
E-Tree Point-to-Multipoint
Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC)

MetroConnectTM  Carrier Ethernet

Basic

Real Time

Is for the end-user data applications that require no guarantees of performance and where cost per Mbps is the key requirement.

Is for end-users requiring low delay (Latency) for some of their traffic and is an ideal service class for packet voice (VoIP) and Video applications. End-users who purchase Real Time will have a percentage of their User Network Interface (UNI) port configured to allow Real Time traffic. The remainder of the UNI port can be used for Basic traffic. The End-user will be required to identify the Real Time traffic by setting the VLAN Class of Service (CoS) ID

Up to 3 Classes of Service per Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC)

MetroTreeTM is an E-Tree Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) Point-to-Multipoint or Rooted-to-Multipoint product providing Ethernet Private Tree (EP-Tree) and Ethernet Virtual Private Tree (EVP-Tree) network connectivity for multi-host and franchised applications where user traffic must be kept invisible to other users.

MetroTreeTM provides traffic separation between users with traffic from one “leaf” being allowed to arrive at one or more “Roots” (one being a redundant Root) but never being transmitted to other “leaves”.

MetroTreeTM EP-Tree is the “Port- Based” E-Tree Rooted-to-MultiPort service configuration that enables all to- one bundling of all customer VLAN’s (4096) into a single EVC per UNI port.

MetroTreeTM EVP-Tree is the Rooted-to-MultiPort “VLAN Based” ETree Service configuration that enables customer VLAN’s to be Service Multiplexed into two EVC per UNI port.

MetroTreeTM EVP-Tree adds a Second any to any application. MetroTreeTM provides full port native Ethernet LAN speeds of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps with two Class of Service options - Basic and Real Time (as described above).

For Packet Voice (VoIP) and Video applications, Real Time is offered on a per-UNI basis and is designed to support Packet Voice and Video applications over a Rooted Point-to-MultiPoint service.

This service is only available on 100Mbps bandwidth with 2Mbps allocated for Real Time and 1000Mbps with 10Mbps allocated for Real Time. This percentage of Real Time is referred to as a Committed Information Rate (CIR).

MetroTreeTM offers the following Guaranteed Availability based Service Level Agreements (SLAs):

  •  Premium Gold 10-1000Mbps
    • 4hrs response-time and 99.90% Guaranteed Availability
  • Premium Silver 10-1000Mbps
    • 8hrs response-time and 99.55% Guaranteed Availability
  • Premium Bronze 10-1000Mbps
    • 10hrs response-time and 98% Guaranteed Availability
  • Standard 2-100Mbps
    • 12hrs response-time, MFN Basic SLA

MetroTreeTM Service Levels Agreements Reference Chart

A persistent question of users and network operations is how well is the network operating? Quick, consistent transport of traffic across the network is very important. Customers are demanding that Service Providers maintain more stringent network performance of which are formalize with Service Level Agreements (SLA's).

Here at Metrofibre networx our Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) have been specifically designed to ensure customers uptime of the network and the end-to-end service traffic performance.

Performance Assurance

For best traffic performance assurance guarantees, we track and measure the performance of traffic transiting across the entire Metrofibre networx, from customer interface to customer interface, with our Network Performance Management system that collects, monitors and measures end-to-end service performance for each MetroTreeTM Class of Service (CoS) priority provisioned (Basic and Real Time).

Our MetroTreeTM is monitored centrally at our state of the art Network Operations Center (NOC) to the MEF pre-defined CoS Service Performance parameter thresholds (See below).

Network-Uptime Assurance

For the best network-uptime assurance guarantees, we ensure that our network designs have sufficient resiliency built-in to meet the most stringent of Service Level Agreements.

MetroTreeTM Class of Service (CoS) Performance Based - SLA

Metrofibre networx User Network Interface (UNI) is the physical 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet interface or port that is the demarcation between the customer and the service providers network.

Metrofibre networx will always provide the UNI at the customer’s site, unless the service is a Standard (Basic) SLA service that is only provisioned with a low costing Fibre to UTP Converter. In this case the UNI will be the Access Ethernet Switch Port.

The Performance and Service Availability monitoring for each of the Class of Service guarantees offered, will be monitored across the entire Metrofibre networx

Monitoring can be either between UNI to UNI for services that reside entirely on the Metrofibre networx (ON-NET), or between UNI to E-NNI (External Network Node Interface) for services that are provisioned Network-to-Network, between network clouds operated by one or more service providers.

Metrofibre networx is a “Carrier Class Open Access” Metro Ethernet Network that is “Open” to all Service Providers, to deliver content to their customers on equal terms and designed to provide a high-level of SLA based Performance Assurance, based on the Metro Ethernet Form (MEF) 9/14.
