Building the African Internet
SEACOM is a privately owned and operated pan-African ICT enabler, which is driving the development of the African Internet. SEACOM’s vision has been built on the backbone of open-access and equitable principles.
SEACOM financed and developed the first broadband submarine cable system along the eastern and southern African coastline bringing with it a vast supply of high quality and affordable Internet. Live since July 2009, SEACOM has seen more than 10 fold increases in bandwidth penetration in several of Africa’s most underserved nations.
SEACOM leverages its bundled backhaul, open access points of presence and global partnerships, to provide high quality, cost effective, end-to-end connectivity around the world. SEACOM also provides these services to land-locked countries in southern and eastern Africa.
Together with the versatility and reach of its International Private Line (IPL) cable network, SEACOM is offering a bouquet of innovative products. Ranging from flexible Ethernet services, to express IP Transit capabilities and accessible Internet connectivity, SEACOM can now provide tailor-made communication solutions for every customer requirement. SEACOM also offers customers state-of-the-art and secure IP Virtual Private Network (VPN) functionality.
Tiered pricing coupled with open access system integration solutions, means that SEACOM has moved beyond the cable to become a major pan-African network with a full suite of IP services and unprecedented benefits for customers.
SEACOM believes in a world where the African Internet experience is characterised by abundant local content, minimal latency, fast download speeds, uninterrupted video streaming, and interconnected African markets. This vision is at the heart of SEACOM’s commitment to Building the African Internet.
